Lower Secondary Music
Music Curriculum Goals
1) To develop cognitive and emotional connection, social awareness, self-expression, confidence and physical development through various musical activities which involves listening, performing and composing.
2) To develop understanding of the Elements of Music (Rhythm, Pitch, Tempo, Structure, Dynamics, Texture and Timbre) and various genres of music, both vocal and instrumental including, but not limited to, Popular music, Folk music, Jazz music, classical music and multicultural music.
3) To develop understanding of the functions of music in various parts of the world through the learning of musical cultures and practices, and playing the instruments.
4) To relate the role of music to students’ daily lives and Singapore’s history and heritage.

PE Dance module
To help our students build their aesthetics and motor skills, we have infused dance into our PE lessons for the Secondary 1 students. Through the module, students not only learn about movements and rhythm, they also learn about the essence of different kinds of dance. During Spectrum IX, our students also put up a fantastic performance of what they had learnt through the PE dance module.
